🅾️China’s strategy mixes hard power (border, military) with soft power (investment, influence, propaganda) → India must develop long-term regional strategies, not knee-jerk reactions.
🅾️What should India aim for?= “Competitive Coexistence” –accept rivalry without conflict, compete without isolation, engage without illusion.

A gentle reminder to the ones with VK IAS mentorship batch and also those who were not associated with VK IAS,
Everybody honours the victors but its in these moments of setbacks , we feel like the wind is knocked out of your lungs- years of toil vanishes in a snap- and no amount of motivational gyan can give you solace. You are allowed to feel the pain- i want to tell the world that my students who toiled hard yet couldn’t make the cut are no less than those who did… i will come back to the ones who got the ranks but i wanna keep my promise .. that you are not alone.. :)
Just one word- you are allowed to feel the pain- but do RESTART and i will be happy to help you if i can do reach out @vikas_kanukollu

✅Gs-2 : IR- Crimean Issue- Russia
🅾️Critically analyze the strategic significance of Crimea for Russia and its implications for global order- V. Imp for prelims also.
⚠️MY PERSONAL TAKE :
⚜️1. Crimea teaches that geography remains destiny even in a hyper-globalized world.
⚜️2. Access to ports, water, and buffer zones still define national survival strategies-So Geography drives geopolitics: Russia seeks year-round access to warm water ports because much of its coastline is frozen for part of the year.Crimea, especially Sevastopol, provides deep-water port access to the Black Sea, enabling strategic projection into the Mediterranean and beyond.
⚜️3. Modern conflicts often disguise age-old strategic pursuits beneath contemporary narratives like democracy vs authoritarianism😅- This is about water resources- North Crimean Canal supplied 85% of Crimea’s water needs.

But IWT cannot be terminated unilaterally (Article XII) - it needs mutual ratification. However India cited Fundamental changes in circumstances (population, climate change needs)+ Pakistan’s bad faith actions (terror sponsorship). BUt, ICJ precedents show it is difficult to successfully argue fundamental change (example: Nicaragua v USA case rejected claims)
🅾️Simla Agreement in Abeyance: Signed post-1971 war to manage peace and the Line of Control (LoC). Suspension signals that India no longer expects Pakistan to respect the LoC framework established by Simla.
